Simple works. That’s what our Director of Product, Or Frenkel, believes, and he lives by it.
Or is a builder. Since he was a child, he’s dreamed up ideas and wondered how great products get made. He always wanted to help people, and he was fascinated by building software, so he went on to study computer science.
He and Ravit Gutman have known each other for years. After he moved to the United States, they started exploring ideas together. Ravit kept seeing the same gap: clients weren’t getting the full potential of large enterprise software. They set out to close it with homegrown Extropy Advisors solutions, and that’s where Or’s Extropy journey began.
What drives him is watching people grow. He’s still hands-on and does a lot of the craft himself. In one-on-ones, he works to understand how the team can improve, where each person can grow, and how to set everyone up for success.
His proudest work is AIDA (AI Delivery Assistant), which we built internally. The challenge was to build one platform that both technical and non-technical people can use. Instead of a heavy, custom AI platform, he built the thinnest possible layer, centered on people and designed to help them shine. Team members now use it every day to find solutions and work faster. In Or’s words, the seeds planted at the start of the year are growing roots and branches, with plenty more growth ahead.
He doesn’t point to one mentor. He learns something from everyone he meets. AI changes every day, so he puts real time into sorting what will last from what’s hype.
Outside of work, Or is competitive on both the basketball court and the padel court. He’s also building a 9-by-10-foot backyard office from scratch with Claude (don’t tell the HOA), one Lowe’s and Home Depot run at a time. The roof is on, and he’s already cheered it through a storm to stay dry.
His advice for anyone new: you’re here because your talent fits what the team needs. Get aligned on those needs. Share an early plan with the team and ask for feedback fast. Don’t wait. Don’t fear failure. Go execute.
